2025 Conference

We Lead Conference

We Lead gives students the opportunity to leave with a starter toolkit for launching their first initiative and the confidence to lead with purpose.

Keynote Address and Workshop provided by Jennifer Borrero.

  • Jennifer Borrero is an award-winning, first-generation, Latina entrepreneur. Her social impact projects, which address international human rights issues, have been featured on multiple TED stages. Through her storytelling, Jennifer inspires students to realize they are capable and qualified to create change, even if they are still figuring out their own journey. Participants will leave with actionable leadership tools, learn how to empower others, and how create a ripple effect of impact in their communities.

Students will learn about structure of our city government from Casandra Eames, City of Ames Engagement Coordinator; hear about Why Local Involvement Matters from Karen Kedrowski, Director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women in Politics; and learn about involvement opportunities from various local agencies, including Ames Public Library, Ames Animal Shelter, United Way of Story County, and more!
