Q: Where is CyBowl & Billiards?

A: CyBowl & Billiards is located on the lowest level of the Memorial Union on the Iowa State Campus. Closest to the South Entrance by Lincoln Way.

Q: Is CyBowl & Billiards open to the public?

A: Yes! A common misconception is that we only serve ISU students, faculty, and staff. We will welcome all members of the Ames community and beyond.

Q: Is there an age requirement?

A: People under the age of 18 and are not enrolled at ISU must be accompanied by an adult.

Q: Do you offer accommodations?

A: We offer a unique opportunity for accessibility-focused rentals. We are able to accommodate special requests, such as no music or no flashing lights on our alley to provide an experience for those who are at risk of seizures or other external stimuli-caused conditions. We can provide private rental space for groups who require more care or have further needs when using the alley. For younger bowlers who may need assistance, we offer lane bumpers and bowling ball ramps.

Q: Are outside food or beverages allowed?

A: We offer food and beverages for purchase from our Underground Cafe, however, you can bring your MU meal or lunchbox between classes. For large scale reservations or private parties, we do have options for food and drink catering through approved ISU vendors. Email cybowl@iastate.edu with specific questions regarding outside food. 

Q: What kind of snacks are there?

A: CyBowl & Billiards has the Underground Cafe which offers great eats such as soda, popcorn, chips, candy, fried appetizers, pizza, and chicken strips.

Q: How long can I play?

A: We offer per-game and hour rental prices so that you can determine what's best for you within our hours of operation.

Q: Can I rent out CyBowl & Billiards?

A: Yes, we book private reservations and party rentals! Check out our private reservation page for more information.

Q: Can I bring my own equipment?

A: Yes! You are more than welcome to bring in your own billiard equipment.  Personal balls are allowed, but use them at your own risk.  Rental rates still apply for billiards tables and bowling lanes.

Q: Do you offer classes?

A: Currently, we do not offer our own classes; however, ISU Recreation Services uses our space for intramural bowling, and the ISU Kinesiology Department offers bowling classes each semester for ISU students.

Q: Is there a place to stash my stuff?

A: There is ample space at CyBowl & Billiards to put stuff while you play.

Q: Is there a dress code?

A:  Shirts and shoes are required to enter the space. Socks are required when renting bowling shoes and are available for purchase if you don't bring your own.

Q: Do I need an ISU Card to play?

A: No, you do not need an ISU card to play. An ISU card will give you student rates.

Q: Is CyBowl & Billiards open during prep week & finals week?

A: Yes, we are open during prep week and finals week; take a break from your studies with us!

Q: How can I reserve a bowling lane?

A: If you have more than 5 in your group, we recommend booking a reservation.
