Whether you are advertising for an event or your organization in general, there are several marketing resources available to recognized student organizations through the Memorial Union and across campus. Below are the current resources available. If you know of some that are missing from this list, please contact Student Engagement to be added.
Memorial Union and Student Engagement Resources
Banners in the MU
Banner display space is available on the west staircase of the Memorial Union and may be reserved through the Event Management Office. Fill out a request form to reserve space for your banners.
Buttons at the Workspace
The Workspace has 4 sizes of buttons and magnets including mini, small, and medium circles as well as rectangles. Make 1 or 1000! Buttons are cheap - they start at just 50 cents (minis just 25 cents!) each and get cheaper the more you get. Note ISU Trademarks cannot be used.
Recruit members and highlight your organization at a high-traffic event. Talk to potential members, collect contact information, and hand out flyers and giveaways. The ClubFest page contains information about guidelines and registration information.
Display Screens in the MU
The MU has replaced the old display cases on the first floor with new digital displays, ready to share your ads with the 38,000+ weekly visitors to the MU. Your ad will appear on screens throughout the MU, not just on the first floor. Digital display ads can be reserved for a week at a time at no cost to recognized student organizations.
Die Cut Machine
Student Engagement has one die cut machine available for student organization use. Make professional-looking bulletin boards and displays. The set contains 4" capital and small letters, 10 basic shapes, and basic punctuation. There is also a set of 8" capital letters. The equipment is located in the East Student Office Space in the Memorial Union and can be checked out for use (on the premises) during open hours.
Flyer Distribution Service
Student Engagement provides a flyer distribution service to recognized organizations and Iowa State University departments. Delivery areas include campus housing, campus buildings, fraternities, and sororities. There is a fee for this service. Flyer distribution is not available during the summer or university breaks.
Get Involved Booklet
Twice a year Student Engagement publishes a booklet with ways to get involved on campus. Student organizations can purchase advertising space to promote their events and activities.
Lincoln Way Marquee
The MU Marquee is an on-campus electronic sign located on the south lawn of the MU. Recognized student organizations and events hosted in the MU can be posted for a small fee for a week at a time.
To request and reserve a signboard to promote an activity on campus sponsored by a recognized organization please fill out a request form with the Event Management Office. Boards are reserved for recognized student organizations on a first-come, first-served basis free of chazrge.
Table Tents- MU Commons
Recognized organizations and ISU departments are eligible to place an ad in the Student Engagement weekly table tent, which is placed on tables throughout the Memorial Union. Reach the 38,000+ weekly visitors to the MU with your message!
General Campus Resources
Advertise your organization and events with CyRide. There are a variety of options to purchase space on the exterior or interior of the bus.
Iowa State Daily
The Iowa State Daily has advertising space and pricing ranges to fit the needs of your organization both through their online edition. Visit the Media Kit link for details and pricing.
Recognized student organizations can send mass email messages to students, staff, and faculty at Iowa State University, for a fee. To request to have an email sent, please begin by reviewing the policy and procedure through the link above. Complete the mass email approval form HERE.

Whenever your organization creates a t-shirt, mug, or any other product representing Iowa State, make sure the products come from businesses licensed to use the university's mascot, school name, or other logos.
