Leaders Workshop Series
The Leaders Workshop Series is an opportunity for you to build up your leadership skills from the inside out. During these workshops, you will have the opportunity to engage in activities and discussions that will help you establish your personal values, learn some tips and tricks on how to build an effective team and community, as well as strategies for promoting yourself and your organization and planning events.

Your Chance to Make History!
The wall proudly bearing the name Iowa State University located north of the Memorial Union was built this summer as part of President and Mrs. Leath's campus beautification program. It establishes the university's identity on the main campus, and it adds an inviting location for photos of memorable occasions with the landmark Campanile in the background. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit suggested names. Send your suggestions, along with your name and email address, to presidentsoffice@iastate.edu. If President Leath chooses a name from those submitted, the winner will receive $250. Deadline for entries is midnight, September 30.
Your Club Can Take Part in National Sustainability Day

National Campus Sustainability Day is an event hosted by The Green Umbrella student organization, in partnership with the Live Green! Initiative and the Office of Sustainability, that celebrates commitment to and success in sustainability at Iowa State University. The event offers an opportunity for any student organization whose mission, goals, practices, and events support sustainability to showcase their impressive commitment, gain exposure for their organization’s efforts, market events, and recruit new members and/or volunteers! Although environmental commitment is an important part of sustainability, National Campus Sustainability Day also celebrates sustainability through commitment to financial literacy and efficiency as well as supporting and strengthening communities through projects and events supporting volunteerism, food security, literacy, housing, etc. Last year, over 300 students attended the event. The Live Green! and Green Umbrella teams will provide display tables and take care of event marketing, as well as offer free prizes and refreshments for all attendees! Apply To Be A 2016 Cyclone Aide!
Cyclone Aides are undergraduate student leaders who are employed to facilitate Orientation and Destination Iowa State throughout the year. Cyclone Aides serve as leaders by providing new students with an introduction to campus and its resources, provide campus and residence hall tours, prepare students for academic advising appointments, serve on information panels, and share information about Iowa State with new students and their family members. Cyclone Aides coordinate the Destination Iowa State program by helping with the selection and supervision of Team Leaders, planning activities and implementing the event. Additionally, Cyclone Aides assist with campus visits and student recruitment throughout the year. Cyclone Aides are an integral part of the Office of New Student Programs. Not only is the Cyclone Aide position a great way to grow leadership skills it is also great form of student employment. Apply now! Questions? Host Your Retreat at the Lynn Fuhrer Lodge
This unique location set in the woods is the perfect spot for your club's all-day retreats or long meetings (reservations must be a minimum of three hours long). There's no cost to student orgs as long as guidelines are observed. The Lodge has been recently renovated and includes amenities like a projector and screen, WiFi, fridge, microwave and kitchen sink, AC and bathrooms, and is set up like a large meeting room with 7 rolling tables and 42 chairs. Reservations can be made online. You should definitely check this place out!
ISU Youth Program Leader Awareness Training
The Offices of Risk Management, Extension and Outreach, and Conference Planning and Management will collectively offer training to provide youth program leaders, administrators and student organization officers with information regarding youth related policies, procedures and forms for successfully conducting youth programs at ISU. Over the past two years, significant changes have been made to existing and new policies, including Youth Activities, Pre-Collegiate Programs and Camps (YAP); Children in the Workplace; and Volunteers. These training sessions will be helpful for departmental/unit youth program leaders, camp directors and student organization officers responsible for planning and supervising youth programs and for administrative assistants who may provide support for youth programs. Training sessions will be conducted on the following dates and times during Fall semester 2015: Tuesday, September 1, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon; Wednesday, October 14, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon; Tuesday, November 10, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.; and Thursday, December 3, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. All training will be conducted in the Extension 4-H Youth Building, Conference Room 1020. Pre-registration is required to ensure sufficient seating and handouts for attendees. To register, send an email to orm@iastate.edu at least one day prior to the training session you plan to attend.
