Your Club Can Take Part in National Sustainability Day

October 20, 2016 | South Library Lawn | 11am - 2pm | Register by Friday, October 7

National Campus Sustainability Day is an event hosted by The Green Umbrella student org, in partnership with the Live Green! Initiative and the Office of Sustainability, that celebrates commitment to and success in sustainability at ISU. If your student organization's mission, goals, practices and events support sustainability, then this event will offer you an opportunity to showcase your organization's efforts, market events and recruit new members and/or volunteers! Although environmental commitment is an important part of sustainability, National Campus Sustainability Day also celebrates sustainability through commitment to financial literacy and efficiency, as well as supporting and strengthening communities through projects and events that support volunteerism, food security, literacy, housing, etc.

The Live Green! and Green Umbrella teams will provide display tables, take care of event marketing, and offer free prizes and refreshments for all attendee's, which was over 500 students last year! For more information, please email paigev@iastate.edu or mkbreen@iastate.edu.

Check Out the Student Org Marketplace!

You can use the Marketplace to sell event registrations, collect membership dues and receive non-charitable donations. By purchasing a product through the Student Org Marketplace, customers are directly supporting your organization!

Artist and educator dynamic duo, Sara Merritt & Letitia Kenemer, will show you how to functionally tap into a variety of creative resources that will keep good ideas flowing and drive great ideas forward. After the Jumpstart Your Creativity event, you will leave with tangible, usable resources that will benefit everyone from your board and staff to your volunteers and audience. Fill out an Online Event Authorization Form and submit it online at least ten class days prior to the date of the event. Your event may require more time to be authorized depending on the details of your program, so please start this process as soon as you begin planning.

Apply to be a 2017 Cyclone Aide!

What is a Cyclone Aide, you ask? Cyclone Aides are undergraduate student leaders who are employed to facilitate Orientation and Destination Iowa State throughout the year. As an Aide, you would serve as a leader by providing new students with an introduction to campus and its resources, provide campus and residence hall tours, prepare students for academic advising appointments, serve on information panels, and share information about Iowa State with new students and their family members. Cyclone Aides coordinate the Destination Iowa State program by helping with the selection and supervision of team leaders, planning activities and implementing the event. Additionally, Cyclone Aides assist with campus visits and student recruitment throughout the year and serve as an integral part of the Office of New Student Programs. Not only is the Cyclone Aide position a great way to grow leadership skills, it is also great form of student employment. Questions? Contact Tori Wheeler at twheeler@iastate.edu or (515) 294-6660. Apply now!
