Iowa Student Leadership Experience

The Iowa Student Leadership Experience (ISLE) is a one-day leadership conference that brings students together to collaborate, engage, and practice meaningful leadership. ISLE is a collaboration between Iowa State University, the University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Iowa and is open to students from all three campuses. 

ISLE 2024 will be held at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls on Saturday, 24 February 2024. Transportation and lunch are provided, buses will leave Ames at 7:30 am and return by 6 pm.

Event Funding and Event Authorization

Student Engagement is here to help you have a successful event! 

The Student Organization Event Funding Board offers recognized student organizations an opportunity to receive funds for events throughout the academic year (fall and spring semesters only). The ultimate goal of this program is to be as inclusive and diverse as possible with regard to organizations and events that are funded. Please note that funding is contingent on approval from the Event Authorization Committee.

Rent the M-Shop for Your Event

Did you know that the M-Shop in the Memorial Union is Ames's oldest continuously running nightclub?

The M-Shop turns 50 this year, and you can rent it for your student organization's event! Visit the M-Shop's website for more information and to request a quote.

Feature Your Organization at Sustainapalooza

Iowa State University’s Office of Sustainability is incredibly excited to invite student organizations supporting sustainability (environmental, economic, and social) through goals, mission, and initiatives to table at this year’s Sustainapalooza, the companion event to the Symposium on Sustainability, taking place on February 27, from 5 - 8 p.m., in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union. Collectively, the Symposium and Sustainapalooza bring together students, faculty, and staff toward honoring our collective campus sustainability commitment. The theme of this year’s event, “Our Green Promise, Our Sustainable Future,” focuses on motivating attendees to reflect on and pursue what inspires them to commit personally toward a more sustainable future.

Sustainapalooza offers the opportunity to increase awareness of your organization's activities and initiatives, as well as recruit new members or volunteers and market upcoming events. Taking part is easy! The Live Green! Team will provide tables, chairs, event marketing, and also the opportunity for attendees to earn prizes through visiting tabling organizations.

Tabling space is limited! Reserve your tabling space now by registering HERE! Registration will be open until all table spaces are reserved or Monday, February 12, whichever comes first.

Student Organization Recognition and Event Funding Boards

The Student Organization Recognition and Event Funding Boards consist of active student leaders from a wide variety of recognized student organizations in addition to staff from Student Engagement, The Office of Risk Management, Student Government, and Recreation Services. SORB meets bi-weekly and looks for students from a variety of backgrounds with current experience leading student organizations.
