Users Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT)?

A Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is a record of your involvement, experiences and achievements as a student at Iowa State University. Meant to compliment your academic transcript, the CCT will provide you with a tool to create customizable and personalized transcripts that will give you a competitive edge when applying for jobs, internships, graduate school, and scholarships. Entries can be verified by Iowa State departments for an official co-curricular record.

What can a CCT include?

  • Campus Involvement

  • Community Service

  • Honors and Awards

  • Internships and Study Abroad

  • Leadership Experience

  • On Campus Employment

  • Recreational Activities

  • Research

  • Seminars and Workshops

  • Student Organization Involvement

How will my CCT benefit me?

The CCT can serve as a one stop shop for you to demonstrate skills and attributes to employers, graduate schools, scholarship selection committees, internship providers, and more.

According to the National Association of Colleagues and Employers 2016 Job Outlook, the Top 5 skills employers seek are:

  • Leadership ability

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Communication Skills (written)

  • Problem-solving Skills

  • Communication Skills (verbal)

In addition, some of the top attributes that influence an employer to hire one candidate over another include:

  • Has held a leadership position

  • Has been involved in extracurricular activities

  • Has done volunteer work

  • Has studied abroad

I noticed that some experiences are already available entries to add to my CCT. Why is that?

Iowa State departments have the ability to add students who have participated in activities or received achievements within their area.

Can I add my own entries to my CCT?

If you have an experience or achievement that is not automatically uploaded on your Co-Curricular Transcript, you can add it yourself and send requests to campus departments or to Iowa State Faculty and Staff to verify the experience for you. To learn how to add experiences to your CCT, visit the training on the Student Organization Database.

Can I create an entry for my student organization involvement?

Yes, but it likely will not be verified. Departments will not be created for student organizations. Student Organization officer and member information is automatically pulled from the Student Organization Database and will appear on your entries page to be added to your transcript(s). If your student organization is overseen by an ISU department they could create a verified entry for you.

How are my entries verified?

After you request verification of an experience that you’d like to have included on your CCT, a notification will be sent to the department or individual that you requested. From there, the department or individual will confirm, edit, or deny your request for verification.

I don't see the department I am requesting verification from on the list. What should I do?

Select “other department” from the drop down menu and indicate a faculty or staff member in that department by netID. That individual will determine if they should assign the entry to an existing department or if they should request a department to be created.

What happens if a verifier doesn't respond to my request for verification?

You can continue to edit, archive, and use the entry as a student submitted entry on any CCT you create. The entry will be labeled "Submitted by Student" when published on a transcript.

Can I include non-Iowa State activities or employment?

All experiences listed on your CCT should be connected to your involvement while at Iowa State University. Your resume is the best place to include information about employment or activities outside of Iowa State University.

Who can see my entries?

Only you can see your entries. No one will be able to view your entries unless you publish them on a transcript and distribute it. System administrators do have access to pull reports of the information in the system that will be used in student success initiatives.

Can I customize my CCT or hide experiences that I don't want to be shown?

Yes! You can create and publish many different versions of your CCT and save them, making it customizable for any application process. You can also archive experiences that you do not wish to show on any of the transcripts that you create.

How can I continue to utilize the CCT after graduation?

Users can add an alternate email address on the "Profile" tab and may use this email to access their entries and create transcripts even after their NetID has expired.

Where can I go to learn how to use the Co-Curricular Transcript?
