Virtual Volunteer Fair Info

Virtual ClubFest and Volunteer Fair will be held during the week of August 30 and will be hosted on Flipgrid. Student organizations registered for the event will have an opportunity to post a video to Flipgrid (up to 3 minutes) that details information about their student organization, upcoming events, how to join, etc. These videos can be recorded on Flipgrid or students will have the option of uploading a previously recorded video.

Videos must be submitted to Flipgrid by Friday, August 27 at noon. The Join Code for the virtual event will be provided to your agency once your registration is received.

Please review the following instructions for uploading your organization's video to Flipgrid:

  1. For your agency to receive the Flipgrid Join Code for Virtual ClubFest, you must first register for the event.

  1. Once you've registered, you'll receive a confirmation email with the Join Code.

Posting Instructions

  1. BEFORE UPLOADING: Update your individual profile by clicking on the emoji in the upper right hand corner of the screen and selecting "Educator Dashboard." On the following page, click on the emoji again and select "Profile." On the next page, enter your agency's name in the "Display Name" field.

  2. Once you've updated your profile, click on "Groups" in the upper right hand corner and navigate to the Iowa State Virtual ClubFest group.

  3. To post a video, click on "Record a Response." You can either record your video in Flipgrid or upload a pre-recorded video (up to 3 minutes in length).

  4. After recording or uploading your video, you'll be able to take or upload a "selfie" that will act as the header image on the Flipgrid page. We suggest using a photo or graphic that is representative of your agency.

  5. Include a description of your agency and how to get in contact in the "Description" section.

  6. In the "Link" section provide a link to your agency's website or email.

Tips for Creating Videos

  • We highly recommend the use of closed captions/subtitles to make your club video accessible. You can add subtitles to videos in video editing software (ie iMovie or Windows Movie Maker).  Check out additional online software to assist with adding subtitles to your video.

  • An easy way to create an informative video is to use Zoom or WebEx, present a PowerPoint, and then share your screen and narrate over the video. If you want to create a fancier PowerPoint presentation, check out these online software to animate presentations.
